Hi everyone,
my little love ist now about 6 months old and I slightly try to introduce him to solids. Somehow he really seems to be a very picky eater. I tried to mash up different kind of vegetables or fruits but whatever I want to give him, he refuses to eat it and he is longing for his bottle. Or he also wants what his bigger brother is eating but when I want to give him some of it, he is also refusing it!
I also tried to feed him in playful ways but no way he would take it. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you for your help, Nora

Hi, ouh this sounds tough! So I guess he is on the same table with you because he wants his brothers food. Maybe he wants more affection. hm. Do you give him a special formula, does it has a special taste? Lot's of babies like bananas a lot because they are sweet. When he wants the bottle do you give it to him? Lot's of questions Consula

Hi, oh I tried bananas at first I thought he likes it but then he refuses to eat it. Yes I give him the bottle when he wants it, do you think it is a bad idea? I wonder how to do it because I want a slight change not from bottle to solids in one day. I have the feeling this doesn't work out

ah and we had to give him goat milk formula from Hipp because he wasn't processing the cow milk based formula very well. You think this might have something in common?

Hi Nora, do you mix for example the bananas with cow milk or did you also use goat milk? Goat milk tastes slightly different than cow milk also if you prepare it with cow milk now maybe he still isn't able to process it. Do you use this goat milk formula? One thing that just came into my mind is that you try mixing up the bananas with the baby formula and the best thing to do it is to mix it up in front of your son. Babies are very observing when it comes to things like this, or at least my daughter always was. When she was used to something she would just like it the way she was used to it. It might also help when maybe the older brother helps preparing it - make a family thing out of it. You should also taste the things you are giving your baby boy and show him that you like it. I also would still give him his bottle for sure but not at the first time he asks for it. Don't give up changing from one thing to another can be really tricky but soon he is going to love what you are preparing for him. I'm pretty sure about this! Consuela

Hi, I didn't use cow milk but goat milk. I never thought about mixing the formula with the fruits. Yes, this is the formula I do use, I think this could really work out because you are totally right when it comes to the taste. You think he is also playing us a little bit? Being a mom can be really overwhelming but I love my children so much I'm going to follow your advice and hope it is going to help. Nora

yes being a mother is a huge challenge but totally worth it! I agree! So let me know if it works and if not, maybe we find some other solutions! Have a great night, Consuela

I had one who was a picky eater. It turned out that he had issues with texture, rather than flavor. I was so scared he would starve to death if I didn't do something. I cut an X in the nipple of a bottle, thinned down his food with milk, put it in the bottle, and fed him that way. Eventually he started eating from a spoon, but it took close to a year.
