Thank you, Maggie! I'm glad you joined us! I like to cook more than I like to eat. Funny how I stay so fluffy.

Hi everyone! I am Kathy from Indianapolis (a suburb of it actually), and a wannabe homesteader... Love to cook and bake, and have a cat and a Golden Retriever always waiting around for me to drop something or for me to trip over while I'm in the kitchen! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the forum, Kathy and Ronda. Rhonda, I was just at your site and I loved the music! I don't think I've been to a blog with music before. If anyone else would like to listen, here is a clickable link~ www.rondaspeachykeenlife.blogspot.com/Very nice blog, BTW. You have a picture of my grandson's sweetheart - Paula Deen. Kathy, your Golden Retriever and my German Shepherd, Buddy, would get along great. Buddy is always laying directly behind me. In fact, between the two of them, we could have wall-to-wall carpeting. LOL

Hi, Lisa! I just posted on your thread on PH (the one about you starting a pantry). You've come to the right place! I think most of us are preppers here. I know I am. I have kept a year's supply of food for some time, but I'm trying to add as much as I can right now. I see things going downhill very quickly and want to be as ready as I can. Welcome to the forum!

Hi guys, I am Wanda, 39 yrs old, married 19 years. 2 sons ages 25 and 18, 2 grandsons ages 4 and 5. I live in a very very rural part of Eastern Kentucky. Nett and I are 2nd cousins. We garden here used to raise pigs and chickens but the neighbors complained about the smell of the pigs and the minks and weasels got rid of the chickens for us.

Hi, Wanda! Welcome to the forum!
Doncha just hate minks and weasels? I lost 50 brown leghorns to a weasel in one night. Broke my heart! They were just getting pretty tailfeathers, and the weasel got in the henhouse and killed them all. It was a couple of years before I raised chickens again. We built a new henhouse, up on stilts, and made it as predator-proof as possible. So far, so good.
Not much you can do about neighbors, though.
BTW, if you live by Annette, you're about 1 1/2 hours from me.

Cool, yes, I am in Letcher County. Nett is actually just across the mountain from me. I can 4 wheel to the top and throw rocks at her...lol.
We finally gave the rest of our chicks to my sisters kids and they are now laying eggs and she is using them in their HS lessons. They live right next door and the rooster they recently got is a crower in the major...3 a.m. not my idea of time to get up...how bout you.
