Could I make this leaving out the ammonia? I think I could handle the other stuff. I've never used the wintergreen alcohol, just plain. I'm mad at Clorox. They make the green works and decided to quit making the concentrate. I was using that to mop floors, just a little added to my mop bucket. Smelled good and didn't make me sick. I'm down to my last bottle so I've got to find something else to mop with that's non toxic.

Susan, you could but it wouldn't work as well. If you leave it out, you might want to add more dish soap and vinegar - maybe 2 T. more of each.

May just try that. By the way, did you know that when you breathe in ammonia your body changes it to MSG? Not sure if I can find anything on that, I know I read it on a site for MCS.

While I understand why some do, I don't avoid MSG. However, I DO generally avoid ammonia. When I was in 4th grade, a boy in my class told me to smell a jug he had. I didn't know the jug had held ammonia. I took a big whiff and had an asthma attack (my first). It scarred my lungs and I've had trouble with them ever since.
When I make this, I hold my breath while I measure, add, and recap the ammonia. After it's mixed, I can't smell it and it doesn't bother my breathing to use it.
