I used to make some nut chops by finely chopping nuts, then adding beaten egg, to bind them together. If they're not runny, mold into patties and fry them till they're good and brown. If they end up being runny, fry them like a pancake. After they're done, salt lightly and serve hot as a main dish or omit the salt and serve as you would pancakes. They're not the greatest thing, but they're something different, for a change. I used to eat them once in a while when I couldn't eat meat. I typed the above, then decided to do a search, before I posted it. It turns out that some nuts do have starch and there is even a way to test for it. Thanks, for that site. I usually stay away from iodine since I'm allergic to it. Man, I love cashews! That's a bummer.
