Yum, Earl Gray! I think I could use a cuppa right about now! Ol' Earl goes pretty good with dessert, too.

If I make a cake with icing/frosting it is to take somewhere! I hardly ever make one for us to eat here. I will bake 50 pound cakes for every iced cake! A hot piece of pound cake smeared with butter is soooooo yummy!!

Jessie, I gotta agree with you! Most of the time, when I eat cake, it's either pound cake or a genoise. (Genoise is easier and faster to make in an emergency) Once in a while, I like a carob cake (chocolate before I got allergic), but I like it hot and without frosting. I've been known to eat an inch-wide strip, the whole width of a cake, while it was still warm. I haven't tried it with butter (yet)

Pound cake is my favorite. Not Pauls so I make pies most of the time. This cake is like pound cake. My favorite is a buttermilk pound cake. Even though I dont as a rule like chocolate I love my mama's chocolate pound cake recipe. I'm fixin to make a double batch of that and a double batch of the buttermilk for the freezer. I like it lightly toasted and buttered best.

I was going to get the stuff to make this last night, but then I saw how many eggs it took, so I decided to wait for a while. I only have one hen laying right now, so I would have had to buy eggs, which I really don't want to do, especially now. But I'm still gonna make one!
