That buckling popped thru the fence twice today. So I took a forked stick and some tape and put it around his neck so he can't push thru. He left Salsa in the pen, crying. His only purpose in life is to keep her company. He best behave.

My doe that had so much trouble with kidding triplets last year is due in a few days and wide as can be. Maybe triplets again? I sure hope they aren't positioned like last year's.
Two other goats are also due this week, but not nearly as wide as Twila.

Twila is not looking ready, but she's starting to feel ready. She's been hanging in the barn all afternoon. I hope she doesn't decide to get serious after dark. Seems to me we did that very difficult kidding with her last year after dark. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Twila got busy about 4, and had those kids by about 4:30pm. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) One big buck and one doe. Pics later.

Very cute. I'm assuming that she had an easier time than last year?

Very much, thank you. Last year is the only time she has tripled, and those kids were all mixed up. First one presented tail first and I had to pull out legs. Then the next one presented front legs and no head. I had to pull the head up and out and that was HARD. By the time I'd managed that fete, she had no energy or push left for number three, and I had to just reach in and get her. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) This year, the first one was hard just because he had such a big head, but presentation on both of them was perfect. So good!

Congrats! How many more do you have to go? I'm half done, 4 down, 4 to go.

I have two more due this week, then a break. Two, maybe three, more does after that, but not for awhile. I say, maybe, on the third because she is a senior doe. I saw her breed, but since she hasn't kidded for a few years, I'll still be surprised if it took.

I'm still not positive on the two smaller girls, but it is ok if they don't kid this yr. They've really grown in the last couple of months, but I really have plenty of milk and work so I won't cry if they don't freshen.

I bet that's a trick, reaching in and getting a baby goat. Dave has done that on cows before, but they're way bigger.
When the goat is laboring, do they pretty much let you do what you need to do, or do they fight you?

Val, I've never done cows, but when a goat needs help, she usually isn't fighting you too hard.

Well, I'd say that depends on the goat, and also how long she has labored (how exhausted she is.) I could not fix the problem I had today before DD got there and held onto the goat for me. It's hard enough to reach in and fix a problem if they are being still, and nigh impossible if they are running in circles.
Re the one I had to reach in and pull out. The doe and I were both so traumatized by the time I got number two delivered, that pulling out number three didn't seem like as big a deal as I'm sure it otherwise would have.
