1-2-3 Cake
1 box Angel Food cake mix 1 box any flavor cake mix 2 T. water
Using a large plastic bowl with a tightly fitting lid or a large zip lock bag, combine the two boxes of cake mix stirring or shaking well.
For each individual serving, take out 3 T. of the cake mixture and mix it with 2 T. of water in a small microwave sake container. I used a small coffee mug. Microwave on high for 1 minute. You now have your own instant individual cake and it is warm and inviting. You can top with a dolop of fruit oe whipped topping if you like.
Try various flavors of cake mix but it must always be combines with an Angel Food mix.
Keep the mix tightly sealed in an airtight container until used and remember: This recipe is called 1-2-3 Cake because all you need to remember is 3 T.mix, 2 T. water, and 1 minute in the microwave.

Turns out I had an angel food cake mix, so I made this today. I used a confetti cake mix. It's wonderful! This recipe is definitely a keeper!

Perhaps this isn't such a good idea. I just finished my 3rd cake today...

Another one of them dangerous cakes! I thought about doing up some of that chocolate cake from the other dangerous cake thread and giving to the kids. This would be much easier for them, though, since they wouldn't need oil or milk or egg or vanilla. I was thinking of making up the mix, then putting the single serving mix in sandwich bags, then putting a bunch of them in a big ziploc, with instructions. I'll use this one instead. Plus one batch will make plenty enough for both kids.

I love this idea....but it does seem dangerous too! I have some orange cake mixes in the pantry, and I'm really the only one here who likes orange cake...I think 'angel food cake mix' just made the grocery list.
Shelia, if i make some of this, is it OK for me to blog about it? Do you blog? I could put a link to you and yours...

I've made at least 9 little cakes from the first mix I made and there's still a ton of it left. I also made another batch. This one is chocolate. The kids said it was good, too.
I went to Save-A-Lot yesterday and bought 4 more angel food mixes, 2 chocolate, 1 yellow, and 1 white. We should be set on cake for quite a while.

How much is angel food cake mix at save a lot? I looked when we were in walmart today but I couldn't bring myself to spend $2.50 on a cake mix (I usually get the flavored ones free w/coupons). I'm hoping they are less than that somewhere else...maybe for a store brand or something.

Save-A-Lot wasn't much cheaper. I paid $1.99 each for the angel food mixes. The regular cake mixes were $1.29. IGA was cheaper because they had them on sale, but I'm still mad at them.
Did you know that Save-A-Lot's prices vary from store to store? The store I went to was one of the more expensive ones around here. I only went there because it was on my way home from the Mennonite store and I only needed a few things.

Still, that gives me something of a reference point. Thanks, Gayle. I'm also going to look and see if our Kroger affiliate has a store brand mix. I have some cake mixes in the pantry, but not the angel food.
I also keep wondering if that box of egg replacer that we got once when we thought Hubby was allergic to eggs would somehow work to turn a cake mix and water into cake. I'm kind of guessing that the angel food one is mostly powdered egg whites, and so that's why it can make this work. I also have some meringue powder from once upon a time when I made royal icing. Hm....

It looks to be mostly meringue powder and cake flour (about equal parts). The mix I bought had them packaged separately.
