I'm trying a new recipe (basically, beef and gravy) I'll post the recipe if it's any good. I saw something like it on 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' 2 nights ago and wrote down how the lady at the diner made it. It's in the oven now. It smells pretty good (I hope it is - the meat cost over $15 for it, but it will be enough for at least 2 meals)

We're having fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and carrot sticks with dip tonight. I might bake some cookies today, if I'm feeling ambitious and the kids aren't fighting too much.

Burritos. I hate those little taco seasoning packets with a passion bordering holy so I season my meat with cumin, chili powder, salsa and salt, and add about half a pound of cooked pinto beans to stretch. Makes it nice and saucy without feeling as if I'm choking on artificial preservatives.

I don't like those seasoning packets, either, so I make my own. I worked on it nearly a year, until it tasted just right. If you want it to taste like Taco Bell, use Durkee's Hot Mexican chili powder. The less expensive stuff tastes more like Ortega's. It's handy to have a batch mixed up and ready to use. I just posted the recipe, if you're interested~ grandmaw.proboards40.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=mixes&thread=1204647489

We made the crockpot beef sandwiches, and the kids and I really liked them, so were probably going to have leftovers tonight.

It's awful, I know, but I still don't have a clue about what I'm going to fix tonight. I don't even have anything thawing. I woke up this morning, feeling like I'd been kicked in the back and have been dragging all day. That's what I get for throwing all my pillows overboard.
I might fix eggs and sausage, if I can get one of the kids to make biscuits. That shouldn't be a problem. All of them love to cook.

Mrs. Oz, I have the feeling Oz is going to be eating a lot of noodles in the near future. They're good, aren't they?
I ended up making something like lasagna, but I didn't make the noodles. I actually made spaghetti, then layered it with mozzarella and baked it. I made way more than I intended, so I made 2 9x13 pans and put one in the fridge for Friday night. Now I can look forward to a night off.
I made a batch of Chew Cake (cookies), so we had that for dessert.

We're having chicken and dumplings tonight. I have it all done, except for the dumplings. I like them fluffy, so I'll wait till dinnertime to make them. They get chewy if you make them ahead.
The kids have been fighting all day and have given me a headache, so I don't feel like fixing anything for dessert. I really just feel like hiding in my bed.

I haven't made pretzel jello in years - probably not since any of the kids at home have been alive! I love that stuff! I need to pick up some pretzels. I have everything else to make it. I think the kids would love it.
