You can o`verwinter a nice plant g=-own from a cutting then take cuttings from that in the spring. I've overwintered them like that. Even had a few tomatoes from the plant.

I've read that you can dig up tomato plants, shake the excess dirt off the roots, and hang them upside down in the house over the winter. Then, when the weather warms up, replant and water and they'll grow. I don't know if there's any truth in that, but I think I'm going to try it next winter.

Just leave the roots exposed and dry? Sounds odd, but when you think about it, some of the best plants you buy are bare root.

I'm thinking I might have better luck with that method than trying to keep them alive in a pot. The tomatoes I tried to grow in the house this year are already dead and the peppers aren't looking too good. I've read you can do pepper plants the same way.
