Lasagna
I learned to make this in 8th grade home-ec class. It's still my favorite.
Sauce:
2 T. oil 1/2 c. minced onion 1 lb. ground beef 1 lb. pork sausage (you're supposed to use Italian, but I use regualar breakfast sausage and it tastes fine) 2 t. garlic powder 4 oz mushrooms 1/2 t. oregano 3 T. snipped parsley (1 T. dried) 2 1/2 cups canned diced tomatoes (1 can) 8 oz. tomato sauce
Brown meats with onion. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer 15 minutes.
Layers:
1/2 cup parmesan cheese 1 lb. lasagna noodles, cooked 5 minutes 1 lb. shredded mozzarella cheese 1 lb cottage cheese
Put a little of the sauce in bottom of greased 9"x13" pan. Layer on 1/4 of noodles (one layer), 1/3 of sauce, and 1/3 of the mozzarella. Add two more layers of noodles. Mix half the parmesan with the cottage cheese and layer that on the double layer of noodles. Top with half or remaining sauce and half of remaining mozzarella. Put on the rest of the noodles, top with rest of sauce, mozzarella, and remaining parmesan.
Bake at 350 for 30 - 45 minutes, until nicely browned and bubbly.
