This is so true. We can't do much individually to change the WHOLE world, but we can change maybe something close to home? Maybe help a neighbor or someone in our town or family or circle of friends? There's always something we can do to make a difference to someone. Another saying I like is: Grow where you are planted.

I want to share a brief story along these lines.
In 2002 I had a opportunity to rescue a crippled horse. I did so. He was a mess. Underweight, hooves overgrown, a front knee frozen due to an untreated injury and 1/2 wild. It took me over a year to get him into a semblance of health and years to earn his trust.
In 2008 I turned 33 and was depressed. I looked around me and asked what have I done with my life? I was bemoaning my lack of accomplishment to my husband (ex now) and he said, “What do you want? To change the world?” I told him “No, I know I’ll never do anything great like that”. Then he said the most profound thing he ever said, “Look outside. Don’t you think you changed that horse’s world?”
He was right. From a world of pain, fear and loneliness, I had given him health, trust and friendship. It was then when I realized, we have an opportunity every single day to change the World. One world at a time with kindness, a helping hand and a little work.
I was blessed to share my life with that horse until March 2020 when he crossed over. Arthritis and age claimed him regardless of my attempts to stave it off. He changed my world as much as I changed his and I hope to see him again on the other side.
