The challenge to the contestants was to use a military MRE field ration pack and a main dish protein base of their choosing to mix and match the MRE long term storage calorie ration to create a restaurant grade meal and dessert.
A kicker in the judging was that a guest judge was a retired army mess Master Sergeant who after retiring from the service was the White House Chef for two or three administrations.
I found it interesting at how the contestants used the MREs to build on the salmon , beef or other protein base they selected.
Could you imagine using a military calorie field survival pack to create a truly enjoyable meal and dessert?
