Beef Skillet Meal contributed by chilipalmer
This is a recipe for the "Cooking from Storage" or whatever y'all decided to call it. I made it Saturday. Wuz goooood.
Beef Skillet Meal
3/4 c. hamburger rocks 1/2 c. cooked, dried pinto beans (as in, you cooked them and then re-dried them. Re-dried beans. Ahahaahaha.) 1/2 can tomato sauce 1 c. mild salsa 1 and 1/2 c. white rice 3 tbsp worstershire sauce 1/4 c. dry milk 2 tsp chili powder (more if you like)
In a deep skillet, reconstitute hamburger in one cup boiling water. Simmer gently until beef is softened. Add beans, tomato sauce, salsa, dry milk, worstershire and chili powder. Stir well, simmer for twenty minutes or so. Add three cups water and the rice. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook until rice is tender. Serves eight hungry people. (Especially nummy topped with grated cheddar as soon as you take it off the heat, but that isn't a dry prep item.)
