Hamburger Sandwich Spread
1 lb. hamburger sweet relish mayonnaise salt pepper
Place hamburger in saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, breaking up meat with a spoon while it's heating. Boil a few minutes, then pour mixture into a strainer (do not use a colander, as meat will be very fine) and allow to drain, pressing with the back of a spoon to get as much moisture out as possible. Cool.
Moisten with mayonnaise and stir in relish, salt, and pepper to taste (I used about 2 t. of relish).
Makes about 3 cups.
Note: I added about 1 t. dried onion to hamburger and water. The original recipe didn't call for it, though.
