IGA has sweet potatoes for 27 cents a pound this week and next. I already bought one 40 lb box and intend to buy another one. I might get one for my friend, too, since she's short on money right now and I know she likes them.

I tried this co-op that is new to our area. I *think* it's going to be a good thing for us, though I think it will be too much fruits and vegetables if I do it every 2 weeks. But everything was really nice and what I've tried so far tastes great. It's called Bountiful Baskets, and they are pretty much out west, as far as I know. I did a post on my blog with photos, if you wanna see what we got this time. tenthingsfarm.blogspot.com/2012/01/bountiful-baskets-co-operative.htmlI went in with 2 other families and we split a case of minneola tangelos 3 ways. I love those, and got 33 of them for $5. The main basket was (off the top of my head, hope I remember it all) 7 bananas, 2 asian pears, 8 fuji apples, 5 cutie tangerines, 2+ lb. grapes and a 6 oz. of blackberries, along with 3 tomatoes, 2 english cucumbers, 2 heads of romaine lettuce, a bunch of spinach, 2 bunches of radishes, a bunch of broccoli. I think that's all of it. It was $16.50. When I added up the stuff, it's not so much that it's a screamin' deal as it is we get better/tastier varieties and some things we wouldn't normally afford, plus I don't have to go to 3 different stores shopping sales or try to price match stuff. So it's a good thing, I think, but I gave to see if we can eat it all before things get old...and how long things will keep. Still, it 'felt good'. Does that make sense? It might be the tangelos talking - I love tangelos!

I know some people make laundry soap but I cant.I am afraid the borax will eventually clog up our sewer lines.Anyway I found that our Dollar General has Oxydol liquid detergent for a $1.00 a 9 use bottle. I am picking up a few everytime I go.I figure that will last me 2 weeks if not a little more plus these small bottles will be good to help out those who need a hand up for a week or so.I am going to put some in our church food pantry too.

i have a 2010 kia soul - this week i received an invite from the dealership "celebrating my third year of ownership" - gonna get a complete interior/exterior detailing for free plus a $100 credit to apply to any parts or service during the visit -
something like that from a car dealer leaves me befuddled -

Kia's are popular here, too. I have a Kia Sedona and I love it! I don't think I've ever said that about any other car. Usually, by the time I've had a car a year, I hate it. This one is 13 years old and I still love it. It could use a good cleaning, though. It still has mud in the vents from the 2x4 going through the back window. The car wash in town has opened again, so I might give the van a treat and clean it.
