Crockpot Dump Cake with Variation
20 oz. can crushed pineapple 21 oz. can blueberry or cherry pie filling 18 1/2 oz. package yellow cake mix cinnamon, optional 1/2 cup butter or margarine, cut into chunks 1 cup chopped nuts
Grease bottom and sides of slow cooker (I use spray)
Layer pineapple, pie filling, and dry cake mix into crockpot. Leave in layers - do not mix.
Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon, if using.
Layer on nuts, then dot with butter chunks.
Cover and cook on high 2-3 hours, or until center has risen and edges are bubbly.
Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Variation: Use spice cake mix, in place of yellow cake, and apple pie filling in place of blueberry or cherry (I would omit the pineapple, too. I thought it was overpowering in this recipe, although you might like it)

Somehow, I missed this recipe. I decided to make one with what I have on hand. Soooo we'll see how it comes out. I had a banana cake mix, chunk pineapple that I turned into crushed in the food processor and a can of apple pie filling.I know the pineapple and banana go together. I'm just not sure how throwing apples in the mix is goin to taste. I shall enlighten ya'll when its done:)

Peggy, don't you have that 'Fix-It and Forget-It Recipes for Entertaining"? That's where this recipe came from.
I'll bet the apples will be good with it. Let us know how you like it.

Dont have thatone. I might have to get it though. We really liked the dessert. Paul ate a huge bowl of it. Its too sweet to eat a lot at one time but I like. I'll have to write down this combination though or I'll forget what I did. It would be real good with a scoop of vanilla icecrean on the side. Definitely a keeper

I'm surprised you don't have that book. You're the one who told me about it - $8 at Dollar General.
I'll have to see if I have a banana cake mix. I have everything else, even the ice cream. It does sound good.

I'll have to gp back and see if they still have it. I've been trying not to buy anymore cookbooks. They are taking up too much room. But I wont mind having that one. I really like the first one

I thinned out my cookbooks once. I regretted it almost immediately. I managed to get most of them back - and more. I hardly ever actually use a cookbook, except for inspiration, light reading, or a trip down memory lane. I have my mother's and both of my grandmothers' cookbooks. I remember looking at all of them when I was a kid.
