Katla has been having small quakes since before Eyjafjallajökull started erupting. These two have been known to erupt very close together. Prepare accordingly.

That's how I 'typed' Eyjafjallajökull. I couldn't figure out how to make that umlaut over the O.

Umlaut...so that's what you call those dots. Have been corresponding with a distant cousin in Sweden but am unable to do those dots either. They must have them on their computers over there.

They probably do, but you can make them on your computer, too.
Alt 129=ü Alt 132=ä Alt 137=ë Alt 139=ï Alt 148=ö Alt 153=Ö Alt 142=Ä Alt 154=Ü
I'm too lazy to fool with it, though, so I copy and paste.
BTW, that's how you do them on a PC. If you have a Mac, the instructions are different.

I check the Icelandic met page for earthquakes nearly every day. So far only small rumbles. Read somewhere that she normally gives one big one and then explodes with lots of ash high up.
To get those funny words, I copy and paste and then my spell checker underlines it. So I tell it to add to dictionary. Then next time I type it and it underlines I just pick the right word from the list.

On TOL someone dubbed that volcano 'Mount Unpronouncable'. Susan
