I start with a 3 or 4 lb beef roast. Preferrably chuck. Meal #1; Put the roast in a large roasting pan with lots of potatoes and carrots. Slice an onion on top of the roast and arrange the veggies around it. Instead of salt sprinkle 1T of beef boullion over add 1/2 cup water to the pan. Cover and cook for 2 hrs. Serve half the beef and whatever veggies necessary for one meal. Make gravy out of the drippings. Meal #2; Cut the other half of the roast in small pieces put it in a crock pot or large pan with the gravy and any left over veggies. If there arent enough potatoes add some fresh. Also add a small can of V-8 or tomato juice. Cover generously with water and simmer. Or cook on low in the crockpot for 5 or 6 hrs. Save any leftover stew for a pot pie for meal #3.

I wonder if you can do that with a pork roast too. Beef is expensive here.....

Doris, I didnt see your question. Jessielee is right you can and my husband says its better than beef. Even the stew and pot pie. If you dont want to mess with the pot pie you can use the leftover gravy over rice. Its just as good
