I made this last night, and it was so good I could have eaten the whole pan. 3 strips of bacon salt (maybe a teaspoon; I used kosher salt) pepper (I used pepper bacon, so didn't add more) cabbage (I cooked 1/2 a small head for me and Dave and it made about 3 servings) Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy; drain on paper towels. Slice the cabbage and add to the bacon drippings all at once. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. I added about 2 Tablespoons of water to be on the safe side, but you can try it without adding any. Put the lid on, turn to low-med heat, and let it steam. Stir after 5 min or so, to let it all get in contact with that good bacon grease. I let it cook for about 15 min total, and it was soft but not limp. You can adjust. Chop up the cooked bacon and sprinkle on top and serve. This is the only cooked cabbage I have ever eaten that I liked (other than what's in egg rolls) and it didn't stink up the house either.

Thats the only way I've ever cooked cabbage. We call it fried cabbage. Try sometime adding a shredded carrot or apple while you are frying it or when its nearly done sprinkle with some dill weed. Yum stuff.

Oh gosh, I know I would eat the whole pan then! Makes you wonder why anyone would boil it to death when it can actually taste good!
