Holidays can be so stressful when we get caught in traditions that MUST be kept no matter how miserable it makes everyone. My tradition is to do something different every year until I find something that works better for everyone and is fun. When it is no longer enjoyable, change it again. This year for Thanksgiving I'll cook the turkey instead of my traditional pot roast. I've recently reconnected with my neice. Her husband is going to teach me to make turkey tamales from scratch! Luis speaks very little English, I speak very little Spanish. What we have in common is a love for Jesus Christ, love for my neice, and we love to make good home cooked food. I've wanted to learn to make tamales for years!

Lucky you!!! Homemade turkey tamales are wonderful. Sometimes I cook a turkey for just that reason.
