I wanted some spiced apple rings, but I didn't have any and I didn't want to go to the store, so I made up this recipe. I think I like it better than the commercial spiced apples.
Spiced Apples
dehydrated apple slices water sugar salt cinnamon oil red food color, optional
Put however many apple slices you want in a pan. Add enough water to barely cover. Cook on medium, stirring occasionally, until apples are plump and tender and most of the water has been absorbed. (it took me about an hour) Add sugar to taste (not too sweet) and a pinch of salt and simmer until syrup thickens somewhat.
Stir in cinnamon oil, a few drops at a time, until it's as strong as you like it (I put about 8 drops to 4 cups of cooked apples). Stir in a few drops of red food color, if desired, to make it pretty.
