I made these for lunch today and we couldn't quit eating them! The 5 spice seasoning recipe makes quite a bit, enough for several batches of sweet potato fries. When oil is hot, fry sweet potatoes, a few at a time, until tender and golden brown. Drain and, immediately, sprinkle with 5 spice seasoning. Gayle, how do the fries come out? I read about making regular fries and how they recommend you fry them twice, but that's because of the starch.
So sweet potatoes you can just cut and fry, without all that hassle? (Hmmm, my mom gave me a french fry cutter for Christmas one year that I thought I would probably never use. Hmmm!)

Valerie, I posted the recipe after I tried it. They were terrific and you only have to fry them once. For what it's worth, you don't have to fry regular fries twice, either. I've tried it both ways and can't see any appreciable difference between frying once and twice, so I just fry them once.
I wish I had a good french fry cutter. Mine is a cheap one - just a frame and wires. It's hard to push through a tater and I wouldn't even try it on a sweet tater. I want one with a lever. When I was making those sweet potato fries, I considered driving to my friend's house and borrowing hers.
