All this time I thought that was lemon balm that came back from last year in that little green pot. But I couldn't figure out why it kept getting knocked over and smushed. Until while ago, when I saw it also had cat hair in it. I crushed a leaf and no lemony smell. It's the catnip from last year come back. So now there all out there acting goofy and rolling around like nuts.

Be sure to dry some for winter fun.
Dry some for yourself, too. It's medicinal.

Medicinal effects aside, I really like it as hot tea.

Davey's cat, George, got into his little bag of catnip a couple of years ago and ate the stuff. That cat was high! glassy stare1 We refer to it as 'kitty pot'. Susan

Last year I started some catnip indoors to plant out in the garden. After weeks of nurturing I finally brought out the tray of catnip plants and set it down at the edge of the garden to plant (naively thinking that my cats would only bother this and not my other garden plants). After I set the tray down I ran inside to stir a pot of something simmering on the stove. By the time I came back, my cats had eaten every catnip plant right out of the little containers!! I never even got to plant those plants! Little stinkers.

Gayle, there won't be any left for drying, unless I plant tons more than they can waller in. One of them was standing there with his eyes closed licking it. The one orange cat with white feet seems to get the most loopy from it. He was on his back between the slats of a pallet while ago, with his feet sticking up and rolling his head around. I swear he looked like he was smiling. They're quite playful this morning.

Medicinal effects aside, I really like it as hot tea. true, but you are limited to drinking it only at home - what with the goofiness and rolling around stuff -
