Green Bean Casserole contributed by gayla
6 Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided 2 Tbsp. all purpose flour 1 cup sour cream 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. sugar 2 tsp. grated onion 2 12 oz. packages French cut green beans, cooked and drained 1 pint fresh mushrooms, diced 1 large can French fried onions 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese, optional
Combine 3 Tbsp. butter and flour in a small skillet. Cook gently, stirring, 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and add sour cream, salt, pepper and sugar. Stir to blend well. In a large skillet, melt remaining 3 Tbsp. butter and add diced mushrooms. Sauté until cooked and liquid from mushrooms is absorbed, about 4-5 minutes. Drain green beans well and place in a large mixing bowl. Add mushrooms, sour cream mixture and onion. Stir until well combined and pour into a 13" x 9" cake pan that has been sprayed with Pam. Cover with cheese, if using. Sprinkle French fried onions over top. Bake at 350° F for 30 minutes
