I'm assuming (maybe wrongly) that you can't can white rice because it would explode (the grains, not the jar) and get mushy, but can you can brown rice?

Wet, you mean? I wouldn't think it would be very good. Then again, they make chicken and rice soup in cans.

Yeah, just cans of cooked rice.
I've been googling it and the USDA doesn't recommend it because of the density of the grains and because of the way rice thickens things. I think beans are about the same density and they thicken things, too, and those can be canned, so what's the difference?

I wouldnt pack the jars tight but I'd sure try it. I put rice in my home canned veggie soup all the time. It does explode but its ok in the soup.

I put some in the meals I can, depending on what it is. Not very much in any jar though. Maybe a tablespoon or two at most.
