I'm usually lucky to get it for $2.50. I'm hoping for a sale soon. I'm down to my last pound.

That's a really great price on alcohol and peroxide, Sheila. They're over a dollar a bottle here.

The other day my grandson found peroxide in a clearance buggy for .25 a bottle. I bought all they had, 15 bottles. He is cracking me up finding me bargains like that. Ever since he got on board about prepping he keeps an eagle eye out for that kind of stuff. I'm glad to have help. I have 10 of those Lowes food grade buckets sitting behind the table. A few are full but i'm waiting on a pay day to finish filling all of them before I put them away. When the kids came for dinner Sunday, Henry told Tamie, "moms at it again". Blayne spoke up and said "dont you make fun of her. You will be glad she's got it one of these days". Cracks me up.

I had the feedstore bring me 50# of mixing salt with my last order. Honestly, I ran out of salt in the house before I could get back to the grocery and was using the coarse rock salt and glad to have that.

Peggy, Jake finds good deals for me all the time. You should have seen him looking for good deals on batteries one day. He ended up finding alkaline batteries for half the price I was going to pay. (bigger package - 2 1/2 times as many - for less money) I was buying the store brand, too. He found generic which were down the aisle from the other displays.
I think we just fall into the habit of looking for things where they usually are, while kids look everywhere.

Paul has been getting more and more concerned with the news that after Sept. when its time for the new corn crop to go on the mkt there will be severe grain shortages due to the drought. So I bought 65 lbs of plain cornmeal. Next pay day I'm goin to do that with flour and rice just to be on the safe side. I remember all the hoop-a-la about rice goin to be scarce that never happened.

I'm back to buying my list every week (this was just the second week lately) Although cornmeal isn't on the list, I'm going to add that since there are so many uses for it.

I've been getting bags of sweet corn from the Amish stand and canning it. Last week it was 13 ears for $3.50. This week he dropped them to $2.50 because the ears weren't filled out as much due to the weather. I also bought some cans of corn at Save-A-Lot today. Got more corn starch and I need to get more corn meal, grits and corn flour. The flour is finer than meal and I use it combined with other grains to make gluten free things. Kroger had 5# bags of potatoes for $1.99 so I grabbed 2 bags. I would have gotten more, but our budget has gotten tighter.

The Man at the Morman cannery says he always stores corn then grinds as needed cause cornmeal tends to get buggy, which works for me cause we don't use allot of cornmeal like most do.I do have a few gallon size bags in the freezer.

The worst bug infestation I ever had was from whole corn. I was keeping my meal in the freezer, but I'm going to start oven-canning it in half gallon jars, if I can find them. Otherwise, I'll use quarts.
The tornado was the second time I lost most of my frozen foods. (The first one was when our power was out for 11 days) I lost most of the grains to mold. I will never trust freezing again.
