After reading the evap thread I thought I'd post this one. It keeps in the fridge for a long time in my uncovered mason jar...
1C Hot water 2C Sugar 2C Milk Powder 1/3 C Melted Butter
Put it all in your blender/mixing bowl/ food processor and go for it. Makes 12oz, or two cans.

I've been making this for several years and it's very good. I haven't bought commercial sweetened condensed milk since the first time I tried it.

What do you use this for? I've tried it in my coffee and it was blecky. What do you all use it for?
ETA: I've tried CANNED, not homemade, which could be much more tasty than canned.

I use it for making caramel sauce (just cook it down on low until it's caramel-colored), magic cookie bars, and for no-bake cheesecakes. i know I use it for other stuff, too, but I'm drawing a blank right now. Here's a site with a lot of recipes. (it's the same stuff as Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk) www.eaglebrand.com/recipes/

Calico, on occasion, I'll put a can of it in a quart jar, add a tsp of vanilla extract, and then fill to about 3/4 of the way with regular milk. It's kind of like store-bought vanilla creamer.

Ohhh---what an awesome idea! I've poured it into my coffee "as is" and didn't like the flavor, but this I can probably do. Thx for sharing!

I saw something on tv the other day. It was called Thai Tea. All it was is black tea, poured over ice, with a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk added. They stirred it and that was it. The sweetened condensed milk made it sweet and creamy. They didn't say, but I guess you add it until it's sweet enough for you.

For whatever reason, I can't tolerate most recipes w/sweetened condensed milk in them. They just don't agree with me. I have made the caramel sauce though, and it's yum. If it gets a bit grainy after a while, simply re-warm it and it's smooth again.
