For those on here who don't know this about me, I have Attention Deficit Disorder. Yes, it really does exist. One of my biggest problems is 'out of sight, out of mind'. So I make lists to follow so I can remember what I need to get done and not get side tracked. The thing is, I go through a lot of paper. Well, I've had this idea in my head for several years (just don't know how to go about doing it), to make a chart that could be put on the wall with color coded chores to move around on it. If anyone can understand what I'm thinking and have any input, I'd appreciate it. Susan

Do you mean like a chart with magnets you move over once the chore is completed? You could have a color for each day for the weekly things, and then a 'do this every day' color too.

Oh is *that* what my problem is called? Susan, I have made charts for myself for the past few years and you know what adds insult to injury? When you get TIRED of the chart you've worked so hard on and need to do it again in order to get any pleasure out of following it. LOL Right now I use Cozi, which has an app, a calendar, to do lists, shopping lists, etc. and will email or text me when I've got something to do. It's not foolproof, but it does work pretty well for me....when I'm paying attention. secure.cozi.com/Cobrand-FlyLady-Signup.htm

Susan, a lot of the teachers I sub for have charts in their rooms with pieces they move. They usually use them for behavior but there's no reason it couldn't be more of a chore chart. The key is little circles of stick-on velcro. One side goes on a little piece that gets moved. They usually use laminated paper things, but most of us don't have laminators, so a flat button would work fine. Where the piece is moving to and where it moves from each get the other half of the velcro. You could have a button for each chore and have the chores listed down the left side. The button could rest in that box when that chore is not in play. To the right of the chores you could have a column for To Do, and a column for To Done ( ). In the morning, or maybe the night before, move your chore buttons to the To Do column and then when you get them done, hop them over to Done. It would be a great visual, and you could dress it up with stickers or pictures from magazines. Does this make sense?

That sounds neat Val. I was thinking before I read it about maybe little colored circles with that magnet stuff glued to the back. But then I'd have to have some kind of metal board that they'd stick to. Front of my fridge is out. Rosie likes to get up on top, reach down and bat anything on the door off. I only have a couple of magnetic business cards right at the bottom of the freezer door out of her reach. Hmmm. Just had a thought. They make those hot pad things that are a metal with backing on them. Wonder if I could find a plain one big enough and write what I need on it. Another thought, are white boards magnetic? I don't use them because of the chemicals in the markers.

Crayola makes crayons that will write on and can be erased from white boards. In the other house I had mine 0n the hall wall where the kids couldnt mess with it.

Do you remember those felt boards they used to have in Sunday school - the ones with people and tree shapes? You could cover a board (or piece of cardboard) with white felt, divide it into days of the week with a laundry marker, hang it on the wall and make colored felt items for each chore. They stick by themselves, so there would be no need for magnets or anything fancy and they would be easy to move around. You can get felt at any fabric or craft store (or Walmart)

I'm getting some good ideas. I'll have to see what works.

We used a system called "Managers of their Chores" that worked. Basically, you write a chore on a note card and carry them around with you, moving the chores you completed to the back of the stack. The system used a lanyard to keep them together but you don't have to do it that way.

Positively GREEN with envy. One of those "wish I'd thought of that" things.

LOL, I have been known to add stuff that I've already finished to the list just so I can mark something off and not be discouraged.
