Patty, your high is about what our low is supposed to be today. Our high isn't hot, though, around 75. I wouldn't hate this weather year-round. Our trees are still green, not even a hint of fall color yet.
I recently bought a case of quarts of raw local honey. I buy one every year. It's nice not to have to go out for it when I need another jar, which I'd have to be doing right now if I didn't have this case. I just emptied a jar. It's in the dishwasher right now. (The jar, not the honey)

I was saddened to hear of the President's and First Lady's positive covid result. I hope this doesn't divide the nation even further and stir up those who hate him to become even more vocal. Bad enough that we are seemingly permanently divided, we don't need to be evil minded as well. There used to be a basic respect for the office of the president whether you liked him or not. This is no longer the case. I hope and pray that they will both recover quickly, and we can all get on with life. The media is having a total meltdown right now with all the "what if" scenarios. Good grief.
On the homefront here, the farmer's market is officially done for the year, and for my husband and I permanently. I did not go to yesterday's final market day, as the high for the day was 42 with a stiff wind making the wind chill about 33. I couldn't see myself sitting outside for 3 hours in that cold just to sell a few jars of honey or a few squash and pumpkins. As it turned out, there were very few customers anyway that day. Today I will try a new recipe for an apple coffee cake that I found on the internet. Also will decorate a grapevine wreath that I made. My neighbor gave me lots of grapevine trimmings from her grape arbor, and I made a 22 inch wreath with the branches. Now I will decorate with fabric leaves that I made, and bittersweet I gathered from down the road, and a large orange bow. Our fall colors are way past peak, and we are looking at sticks again until late May! Kind of said to see the beautiful fall colors go so quickly, but that's the way things go up here in northern Minnesota. "Fall" is about 2 weeks long. Maybe 3.

I need to trim my grapevines. I might make a wreath, too. I usually just feed them to the goats.
According to the news this morning, Trump and the First Lady are both doing pretty well. Hopefully, they'll be completely well soon.
Not much happening here. I've had more company than I'm used to. In fact, I'm expecting Doug to get here in a few minutes. He worked second shift (12 hours) and has to drive 1 1/2 hours to get back here. He's bound to be tired and hungry when he gets here. I already have food fixed.

It's snowing here today. We're supposed to get about 4 inches of heavy wet snow. I guess winter is here.

Patty, I don't envy you. We had our first frost this morning, but we're supposed to have highs in the low-70s the rest of the week. I'm dreading winter.

Good Morning. Glad to be back here. Patty, I was fixin to make your honey oatmeal cookies. I haven’t felt much like baking lately so Paul will be pleasantly surprised. It’s nurse day so I’ll BBL.

Good Morning! Well, it's afternoon here now. I'm working on my to-do list. It's a short one today. That's a good thing because I didn't get up till 8:30. That's 2-3 hours later than usual. Not much going on. I'm having my DIL pick me up a gift card today. She works at Dollar General. I'm going to order a flute and, hopefully, learn to play it. I'll probably drive everyone crazy. That's a bonus.

Good luck on the flute playing! Sounds like a fun winter thing. My son plays a flute and he is very good.
I have been more or less depressed lately, not only because of covid and all the stuff that goes with it, but the election, too. It just seems like everything is always in chaos anymore. The covid cases have increased in Minnesota big time. Every day there are at least 5,000 to 8,500 NEW cases! Even in our county, every day is an increase of 5 to 10 new cases. My other son and his wife and all 4 of their kids got covid in the Twin Cities. One grandson was even in the hospital with it. And he is only 14, so I know covid is serious. All a person hears about anymore is how Thanksgiving is "cancelled" and Christmas might be "cancelled" and the political scene is still too chaotic. I don't see how the media can say holidays are cancelled - Thanksgiving and Christmas are in our hearts and minds and attitudes. (And scripture). Holidays aren't just about eating turkey or giving gifts. I'm dealing a lot better with all the covid and political stress, but it took a while.
Harold and I are staying home and going nowhere for at least the next month or so. Just to be safe. With his cancer in remission we aren't taking any chances.
I have been working on a Christmas decoration project. I'm making a garland of pennants in Christmas fabrics and the ends of the triangles will have a jingle bell sewed on. All will be attached to a dark green ribbon and hung across the wainscot in my dining area. A few weeks ago I bought a 3 ft tall white Christmas tree at an antique store that has fiber optic ends. I'll put silver and gold and pink balls on it to look like a 1950's tree. With just hubby and I for the holiday, putting up a small tree is a lot easier than lugging the big tree out of the basement storage area and putting up lights and ornaments and tinsel, etc. I have another small tree that is 4 ft tall that I decorate with homespun ornaments I made. I usually put a small string of lights on that. That tree will go on a small table in the kitchen.
Gifts this year will be baked goods or homemade candy as usual. I will also probably do some orange spiced pecans again. They were so good last year. We have plenty of snow on the ground already and the ponds are frozen over, too. Winter is truly here in northern MN! It's going to be in the single digits tonight for a low.

We're still having highs in the low-60s, but frost in the morning. It's hard to know how to dress.
I get everyone gift cards for birthdays and Christmas, except the grandbabies. $25 for birthdays, $50 for Christmas. I buy $100 worth every month. They build up pretty fast.
I only put up a small tree these days, along with a few knick-knacks. I wouldn't put up one at all (I'm the Grinch), but Ben actually does it. He does all the Christmas baking and candymaking, too.

Well, it’s evening here. I didn’t get much work done today. No problem, it will all be here tomorrow. I’ve got to pick up 2boxes of apples tomorrow. I want to dry a whole box. Wellcook and eat the others. Might as well stay busy. I’m going to stay in for a couple of weeks. School is virtual only this week because so many teachers and students have covid. Our part of Ar is a real hotbed for the cussed stuff. My grandgirl and daughter have it. We had a dear friend my daughters age get it and die. It’s very real. Paul’s brother almost died with it. He’s in a wheelchair. Still very sick and weak. Eventually it will pass...like a kidney stone maybe but it will pass. I need pie 😳🥰

Good evening. I’m running behind a bit. I picked up 2 boxes of apples. They are real fresh so I can wait a few days before I get them in the dryer. I have 2 brown paper sacks of raw peanuts that I plan to use for peanut brittle to use for gifts. The cussed things are no fun to shell. Harder on my hands than pecans. I think I shall boil the second bag. We love boiled peanuts.

I honestly don't know what I did all day. I only cooked some pancakes made from cottage cheese, oats, and eggs so the cottage cheese wouldn't go bad. I found it in the fridge drawer. I'd forgotten I'd put it in there. I didn't clean. I didn't take care of the animals (Connie did). I guess I just ate and drank coffee all day. Not feeling real good. I'm not exactly sick, just feeling tired.

I hear you Gayle. I'm not feeling so good either. I think I'm coming down with a cold. I looked up cold symptoms vs covid symptoms. They are very similar, but I don't have a fever, so I guess it's not covid. Besides I haven't been anywhere for a couple weeks. It's a cloudy, cold windy day, so it's a good day for a nap and doing nothing!! (At least in my opinion!)

Mine turned out to be very dry mouth when I'm sleeping. It was getting so dry that I couldn't even swallow and it was giving me a sore throat. I put a few drops of food-grade glycerin in my mouth when I went to bed last night and woke up feeling much better. Even my sore throat is gone. I wasn't sure there was any connection, but I guess there was.
I've been cooking all day, mostly little things, like noodles, sweetened condensed milk (I use it to make cheesecake), space food sticks, and walnut butter (used that to make the space food sticks) - stuff I was either low on or out of. I opened a can of chicken breast and one of corned beef, repackaged them in fridge containers, and put them in the fridge to make other things out of (put them on noodles, in sandwiches, in eggs, etc.)
I also cut a few corkscrew willow branches to stick in a vase. No reason, I just like them.

Hi Peggy, glad to see you back. I have not been in the best spirits lately. I was already having enough stress over the election, then our governor decided to ruin Thanksgiving. For months gatherings were 10 people or less. Well that's exactly what we have when we all get together, 10. Then he decided we can only have 2 households and a total of 8 people. So our other 2 people and third household would be Davey and Mikey. We had planned TG here so it wouldn't be such a strain on Christy since she's still recovering from having Cragen. She's finally moving around better and able to go upstairs to sleep. We're going over today for dinner and birthday cake for Vivian, so I'm going to talk to her about us still doing all the cooking, but bringing it over there. I'll be doing a lot of the prep work on Wednesday, so it will just be putting it all together and baking on TG. I wouldn't have such a problem with the governor if he wasn't such a hypocrite. The first lockdown you couldn't see a dentist, doctor, eye doctor or go to church, but you could get an abortion. This time around he's asked churches to close (got in trouble for mandating that the last time), restaurants closed to in dining, severe limit on gatherings, but the horse racing venues are open. So you can go gather in those and play the slot machines. Well, that's my rant. I'm still processing things from the garden. I successfully saved seed from tomatoes! Got 80% germination, they are all packaged. Tried to save seed from the cucumbers, but I think they are a flop. I expected the mold to form like the tomatoes, but nothing. I still need to seed the ripe summer squash and the volunteer pumpkin. I'm figuring next year if things get really rough I won't be able to supply some of my neighbors with food, but I can help them out with seed to get some things growing. Well, I need to get moving this morning.
