I was just teaching Jake how to clean a microwave (he complained about the spaghetti sauce that Ben exploded in it) and it occurred to me that there might be others who don't know the easy way to do it.
All you do is put a microwave-safe cup of water in it, bring it to a boil (about one minute on high) and leave the door shut for 5 minutes. The steam softens the crud so it wipes right off. Including boiling and waiting time, it takes about 10 minutes to clean one, with very little effort.

Helps too if you don't have kids who blow things up and leave it to cook on. I wipe mine out whenever something makes a mess, while it's still soft.

If they'd just put something over the bowl...
