Cake Pops or Balls
1 cake mix, any flavor, prepared (in a 9"x13" pan) according to directions and cooled completely 1 container ready-to-use frosting, any flavor Chocolate, white coating blocks or discs, or leftover frosting Optional: sucker sticks, sprinkles, decorator frosting, contrasting chocolate (for drizzling), or other decorations
Crumble cooled cake into a large bowl. Stir in 1 cup frosting and mix well, until mixture holds together nicely and resembles dough. Roll into bite-size balls, using about a teaspoonful of 'dough'. Set balls on waxed paper or plastic wrap. (I used a plastic wrap covered cookie sheet).
If you're using sucker sticks (I didn't), stick one in each ball now.
Now you have to decide what you're going to coat them with. I melted the leftover frosting in the microwave, stirred in 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and enough milk to make a fairly thin glaze. If you prefer chocolate or coating, melt them now.
Now dip each ball in your choice of coating. If you're not using sucker sticks, just drop each ball in the coating and fish them out with a fork, allowing them to drain well. Place on waxed paper or plastic wrap to set up (I put mine in the refrigerator). I sprinkled them as soon as I finished dipping them all, but would let them set up first if I were using decorator frosting or a drizzle of a contrasting chocolate.
This made around 4 dozen.

I make these all the time for Church bake-sales.I found it's better to start off with 1/2 container of icing or equivalent of homemade or they don't set rite, because box cake mixes come in different sizes. They sure are good taste like truffles. here's a recipe for cake pops made from scratch without using box cake mix.Am sure any flavor cake mix would do,going to try a few. www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-cake-balls-78637
