Gayle, is your recipe for cranberry chutney on here. I cant find it. I needed space in the freezer so I have thawed 4 or 5 bags of cranberries inthe icebox. Chutney sounds good.

I know why its under salads. At the time I was talking about making that cranberry/orange jello salad. You just stuck them under the same roof. What I wound up with is so good I want to just eat a bowl of it. I've been hanging out with you in the kitchen so much I'm beginning to think like you cook. I thought I remembered most of the recipe. Thats your first laugh. So I just winged it. I put a cup of cider vinegar and a cup of orange juice from some oranges I had in a pot. I didnt have time to chop the stuff by hand so I put 3 apples, 1 onion and an orange peel in the food processor. Chopped it up fine and dumped it in the pot. Then I put a cup of white sugar and a cup of brown sugar, 1 T. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. cloves and 2 tsp. ginger in it. I cant remember if there were 3 or 4 bags of cranberries so I put them in. Simmered it on low until it was thick enough. Adjusted the sugar a little and its done. I'm going to process it in half pts in a water bath for 10 minutes. It sure looks pretty. Oh, shoot, I keep leaving out the 2 cups of raisins I put in before it cooked.

Yummy! I hope all my chutney didn't get broken because you've got me wanting some now. It's a good thing I finally figured out how to use the search on this site or I'd have never found that recipe. I am going to leave it where it is, since that's probably where we'll look for it now, but will post a link to it under 'canning and preserving'.

I wound up with 12 1/2 pt jars and 2 pint jars for the icebox. I could just sit down with some crackers and eat a whole jar by myself.

LOL I'm the same way about the chutney I make, only I wouldn't need the crackers.
That's a pretty good amount you got! In fact, it's a lot!
After I read this yesterday, I went and told Dan I needed my food out of storage. Poor old thing didn't know what hit him.

I probably get the same look everytime I tell Henry I need something done. He still hasnt moved me a freezer over here. If I could move it myself I would but I cant. I did move the shelves. That kind of gavehim a start. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesnt. I put a wide thick board on top of 2 concrete pots at the front door. I dont like having the garage door open all day because I cant lock the inside door. I wondered if having to climb in and out of the front door would encourage him to make doorsteps but so far it aint worked.

We've just got those rickety trailer steps at the front door and a wobbly ramp that the kids made at the back door. I stepped out on that a couple of days ago and it slid into the underpinning. Luckily, I'm fast and got off it before it went through it. I understand now why Buddy hesitates to come in that door.
A friend of ours has been telling Dan that he's getting the Amish to come build us a porch. I know they've been helping a lot of people around here, so it's going to take a while. A porch would be nice. Maybe then I could get everyone to take their shoes off on the porch so they wouldn't track mud into my livingroom. With no grass, this place is a mudhole.
