I was wondering if anyone has any "vintage" recipes, or better yet, a site that has them?
I've bought three canvases that I want to put a vintage recipe on to hang on the wall in my dining room. I'd like to find one that we would actually use if possible. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have a Boston Cooking School Cookbook (by Fannie Farmer) that is almost a hundred years old. If you don't find what you're looking for, let me know and I can scan some pages for you. Is there anything in particular you'd like?

I have an old Will Rogers cook book that's pretty cool all the entries are from past Presidents, and there wives over 60 years ago there's some actors in there too with a few Governors tossed in.

M, try an image search for 'vintage recipes'. It brings up loads of recipes, many with retro pictures.

Thanks ladies! I'll look around a bit later today. It would help if I knew what I wanted, but I don't. I was even thinking about finding a conversion chart for vintage recipes and reversing one of my own.

How are you planning to put it on the canvas? Are you wanting to paint it, or do calligraphy, or some other way?

I'm not sure... I was going to paint the canvas dk purple, let it dry, paint it the cream color of the wall and let that dry. THEN, cut out and place the lettering, paint over it all and remove the letters... Sounds way to complex...
Upon further thought, we (DD2 and I) are going to take a pic of the lettering, project it onto the purple canvas and paint the letters on in cream colored paint. Then I will age it with some sand paper.

I was even thinking about finding a conversion chart for vintage recipes and reversing one of my own. How about looking for vintage recipes for 3 of your favorite comfort foods? If you are doing this on canvas that's copy paper size, there's a way to print directly on it. I think you have to stiffen it, but don't know all the details.

I'm putting one recipe one three canvases. The largest of which is 3'x4'. I'll see if I can post the pic when it's finished.
