Mike found our first egg this morning. They don't have nesting boxes yet, so we've got to hurry now to get that done. What I think we need to do is build the box with a hinged lid and cut out the wall on the back of the coop. Mike keeps insisting he's not good at working with wood, so I may have to get Davey over here to help with it. Susan

Wow! You must be doing something right. They're awfully young to be laying! Good going!

We got them around March 15 and they were maybe a week old or less then. Anna was definitely younger and smaller and we think Esther was maybe a couple of days older. I think they had several different hatchings in that pen when we picked out ours. The 2 that died on us were also smaller like Anna. So if Esther is the oldest she's pushing very close to 5 months old. They are full grown to look at them. I can take pictures with my phone, but not sure how I can post it. I've posted some to fb. Oh, and that egg was tiny, about half the size of a normal egg.

They laid a second one yesterday. Mike thinks it's Esther. She may be a little bit older than the others. Now we've got to scramble and get nesting boxes attached to the back side of the coop. That means building them and cutting out the back wall of the coop.
