I decided to quit cooking veggies in the microwave, so I had to find another way to cook them. I have steamed broccoli before, and we like that.
The other night, I steamed fresh green beans, and they were really tasty. When they were done, I dumped the water out of the pot, put the beans in, and added a bit of bacon grease to flavor them.
One night this weekend, I steamed frozen half-ears of corn on the cob. I couldn't believe how good that came out! It was more tender than when I boil it, and got done pretty quick, too. And no waiting for a big pot of water to come to a boil.

I've been doing that a lot lately. I have this nifty electric steamer/rice cooker with 2 levels. I put the squash on top and the taters on bottom. It has a timer so I don't have to watch it. Brussels sprouts are amazing steamed

I suspect soon Valerie will have converted her car to steam I have been steaming veggies for years. I often use "Better Than Bullion" bases to make broth which adds some nice flavor.
