A government advisory committee for the first time says coffee is OK -- even good for you. The panel says there is strong evidence that 3 to 5 cups a day can be part of a healthy diet, and there's consistent evidence that it's even associated with reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
The advice comes with some caveats -- don't add calories with cream, milk and added sugar. The report also advises against large-size energy drinks that are popular in the marketplace, and it recommends pregnant women limit caffeine to two cups of coffee a day.

If I had 3 to 5 cups a day I would be bouncing off the walls.

I do one grande Starbucks Pikes Roast a day. Two, and I would never sleep.
A lot of people need to bounce a few times. The more stationary we are, the rounder we get. You just need to turn your bounces into dribbles.

Coffee doesn't keep me from sleeping at night. I usually have two or three big mugs a day. I think they are about 20 oz. It does lower blood sugar. I use milk but no sugar.

The trick is to have "coffee", not "coffee and..." A lady I used to work with always had to have "and" with her coffee, as in coffee and cookies, coffee and a rice krispie treat, etc. It's the and that'll get ya!

I prefer to not add the 'and' to the coffee. I'll drink it after a meal or between meals with no snack.

What is worse that goes even better with a cup of coffee is a cigarette. Quite a few alcoholics can give up beer and cigarettes but precious few can give up coffee and cigarettes.

That is so true. I remember when my daddy quit smoking, that was the hardest part for him. After a few years, once his taste buds slowly came back to normal, he pretty much quit drinking coffee. He said it never again tasted as good as it did when he was smoking.
