I put a sweet tater in water in the windowsill on Sunday, and it's already making tiny roots! I need to grow me some slips for the garden.

I’m having good luck this year so far doing this. I have 3 slips that have roots growing nicely and 3 more that I have in water.

I'm wishing I'd grown some this year. I can hardly find them in the store.

<decloaks>
I grew some last year in containers. I really did it for the leaves, because I read about how they're edible and nutritious. Well, that may be, but mine weren't particularly flavorful. But I had COPIOUS amounts. But the real bonus was they actually produced sweet potatoes - even in the windowbox!
This year? I have barely gotten single tuber to produce ONE leaf. Last year, my potatoes produced tons of starts each, but this year, no such luck.
THe potatoes I grew last year came with produce; same this year, but from a different store. Next year I'm going to buy, like, two sweet potatoes of several different kinds and see which ones grow well.
