Tomato Dumplings contributed by gayla
1 quart home canned tomatoes, cut up ( I have used 3 cans stewed tomatoes) 1/4 c. diced onions 1/4 c. diced celery salt & pepper to taste 1 batch Dumplings (below)
Combine tomatoes, celery, onions, salt & peper in lg. pan. Bring to a boil and drop dumplings onto hot "stew". Cover with lid until dumplings are done.
Dumplings 3 tbls. shortening 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. milk
Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt with pastry cutter or two knives until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk.
