Hiya Gayle, Great site, can't wait to try some of these. Anyway, I'm Shelby, We have a small farm in PA, (soon to be CO if DH gets his way) DH and I have been married for 16 years and have 4 kiddos, DS 15, DD 14, DS 12, DD 10. We have a jersey family cow, a herford heifer, chickens ducks and a 4 yr old Quarter horse and of course a really sweet 9 yr old yellow lab. We raise our own meat, and would really love to get the garden back again this year, but don't think that is going to happen. I love to cook but can't seem to get most things right, so we stick to the basics instead of trying anything new, and believe me its getting old, LOL

Welcome to the forum, Shelby! I like a lot of variety in food, so I'm always looking for, and trying, new recipes. I try a new one, or a variation on an old one, nearly everyday. Keeps things interesting as far as cooking AND eating.

In our home, if it tastes good, it is "right"...even if it wasn't what was intended. My son says everything hits the spot because it's "cooked full of love".

Shelby, you'll love Colorado but not the land prices. I am so happy to be back in Colorado again ... even if it is in the city.

LOL Glad you finally made it, Annemieke! It's a new forum - just one week old today, but I posted links all over the place. (I have to admit, I hardly ever read links, but I thought it would be crass to post a thread about it on other forums)

Hi ya'll. Meemo is Peggy in disguise. Thats the name my first granddaughter made up to call me. I always said I wouldnt stand being called a funny g-parent name but you know, when that little darlin toddles over and looks at you with big eyes you'd stand being called poo poo. I dont live on or near a farm anymore. We just moved to Arkansas and live almost in town in a subdivision. My husband is disabled and cant do the work and I cant do it alone. We moved here to be near my daughters family. We are expectin a third grandchild in Sept. I think this is a real good idea Gayle. Cant wait to jump in.

Welcome to the forum, Peggy! Welcome back in general! I remember you mentioning once, a while ago, about her calling you Meemo. I guess that's why it sounded familiar.
I've been posting some of my saved recipes and realized how many of them were from you. I didn't post yours, but I sure hope you will! I use your recipes all the time! In fact, I'm making your fried chicken tonight! It's the best I've ever had, even better than my mother's!

Heya. Y'all must know me by now, eh? I go by ChiliPalmer online, but y'all can call me Jo. I'm a military wife, mother of three girls and five boys ranging from Dave at almost 13 to Theodore, who is just a wee man at not quite three months old. We live in CO about sixty miles east of Denver metro. Only just arrived so my little boys are the sole livestock on the spread yet; that'll change soon, as I've got 35 acres to play with (wheeeee!). I love to cook. I love everything connected with food; growing it, preserving it, cooking it stockpiling it. My goal in life is to one day be a really fat granny who smells of pastry. On HT I once remarked that I'm into homesteading for the food - which isn't far off the mark, really.

Jo, you're NEVER going to be a fat anything! I think you could eat till the cows come home, then eat the cows, and you'd still be tiny!
Glad you joined us! Jump right in. You know your way around a forum!

I inherited the family double chin. I gain three ounces and this extra chin appears. Oh yes, one day I will be fat. It's just going to have to wait until the middle age creep sets in.

I started losing weight when I hit middle age. I've been losing about 10 pounds a year. (I actually lose around 20 in the summer, then gain back 10 in the winter) Raising vegetables is good for you in more than one way!

One can only hope. Theodore gave me this little spare tire I'd like to see go away. It's only a few pounds but on a gal as short as me, there's no where for it to go.
