Old Fashioned Cornsticks contributed by gayla
My family loves these cornsticks. I make them with the old cast iron corn stick molds mine were my MIl she got them from her Mama I have seen thrift shops and antique stores. (Mine look like little corns.) Here is the delicious recipe that I have used for years
Old Fashioned Cornsticks
1 c. flour 1 c. yellow cornmeal 1/4 c. sugar 2 t. baking powder 3/4 t. salt Mix together in a bowl. 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 1/3 c. milk 1/4 c. oil
Mix together in another bowl. Combine bowls and mix together quickly. Grease a cast iron corn stick pan with oil, then put it in a 450 oven for five minutes to heat. Take the pan out and pour batter in each section 2/3's full, then cook 10-12 minutes.
