Mother Hardesty's Banana Bread contributed by gayla
1 cup sugar 1/2 cup shortening 3 mashed bananas Pinch of salt 1/2 cup sour milk (1 1/2 teaspoons of white vinegar in a measuring cup and fill with milk up to the 1/2 cup mark. Let stand for 5 minutes or more.) 1 Tablespoon Baking Soda 2 cups flour 1 cup chopped fine nuts
Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add mashed bananas.
Sift salt, Baking Soda, and flour together.
Add alternately with sour milk.
Stir in nuts.
Pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until tested done when toothpick comes out clean.
