Sausage Pilaf Mess contributed by chilipalmer
It's definitely a mess. One day, dreadfully sick with a head cold, I resorted to the tried and true "throw a bunch of odds and ends into a skillet and hope no one complains". Casper had the unmitigated gall to scarf it down and demand I make it often.
Sausage Pilaf Mess
Half of a 1 lb kielbasa, such as Hillshire Farms Two boxes Rice-A-Roni rice pilaf Six eggs 1 can green beans, drained
Cut the sausage in half and put the other half back in the fridge for some other meal. Slice the sausage lengthwise, then slice it again lengthwise so you have four long strips. Thinly slice these strips and dry-fry in a skillet until slightly brown and carmelised.
In a deep skillet, prepare rice pilaf according to directions. At the step where you add water, add the sausage also. Cover and continue cooking as directed.
Beat the eggs with a tsp onion powder, some pepper and a couple tbsp water. In the skillet you used to fry the sausage, scramble the eggs and set aside.
When the rice pilaf is done, remove lid and add the can of green beans and the eggs. Stir well to mix it all thoroughly. Put the lid back on and keep cooking for just another minute or so. Serve immediately. Feeds many.
