This was my grandmother's recipe. Instead of a 10" pie shell, I use 2, 9" shells and divide the filling between them.
Millionaire's Pie
1 partially baked 10" pie shell, in its pan 1 cup coconut 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup chopped pecans 1/2 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup white sugar 4 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 T. butter or margarine, melted 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1/4 t. vanilla extract pinch of salt
Heat oven to 325°. Toss together pecans, coconut, and chocolate chips. Place in pie shell. Mix sugars, salt, butter or margarine, corn syrup, and vanilla.
Gently fold eggs into sugar mixture. Pour over ingredients in pie shell.
Bake 55-65 minutes, or until deep golden brown on top and nearly set in the center.
Cool to room temperature.

This pie is so good. My family loves it. Hmm I have all the ingredients. That shall be tomorrows pie. I do love pie. Oops, I suppose I should mention due to my extreme distaste for choc. chips I use butterscotch chips. I do love this pie.

I used carob chips because I don't hate chocolate, just can't eat it. There's no way I was going to make this with real chocolate, then sit there and watch everyone else enjoy it.

I'll have to try this next time we want a pie. I can eat chocolate chips, but not cocoa powder, but I think I will swap cane syrup for the corn syrup, even though it will change the taste a bit and make it darker. Sounds real yummy!
