Can you leave out the cabbage?

I am sure you can. Just make sure that you watch the water because most of the water in this recipe comes from the cabbage. I have not made this one in quite a while so I think it will go on the menu soon. It is one of my favorites.

OH, we also like to top this meal with sour cream.

Jessie, I served sour cream with mine, but we only used it on the potatoes. It was good.

I'm making this for supper tonight. Glad I read all the way through, and saw that most of the water comes from the cabbage. I was planning to use dehydrated cabbage! So I better either rehydrate first, or just add extra water at the start.

Heehee! I made this last night, and Dave liked it. He was skeptical at first, because it was new and looked different (and he is always skeptical of one-pot things, thinking I'm trying to sneak the dreaded casserole in on him! ) But he ate it and liked it, and got seconds.
