My Spaghetti Sauce
1 lb ground beef 1 large onion 1 T. minced garlic 1 can tomato sauce 1 can tomato paste 1 T. oregano 1/2 t. black pepper 1/2 t. salt dash of cayenne pepper 1 t. instant coffee (dry) 1 can of mushrooms (optional)
Brown ground beef with onions. Cook until onions are tender. Drain off grease if necessary. Add garlic and cook about a minute. Stir in remaining ingredients, along with 1 tomato sauce canful of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until thick (about 1/2 to 1 hour). Taste and adjust seasonings, if necessary.
If you like a chunkier sauce, add a can of diced tomatoes along with the tomato sauce, paste, etc.
I double this recipe, but still only add 1 lb of meat.
