Chocolate tomato Cake
Place one 18 oz box of dry chocolate cake mix in a large bowl, along with one 10 3/4 oz can of undiluted condensed tomato soup, 1 Teaspoon of baking soda and two eggs, and nothing else. Mix well, and bake according to the cake mix directions. Frost with your favorite frosting.
I tried this and its really good, looks like the old fashion " Red velvet cake" Irene

Thanks, Irene! I might give this a whirl next time I need a cake. I never have liked the rubberiness of red velvet cake, nor the thought of those bottles of artificial coloring.

I'll bet Belinda would love this! She loves Red Velvet Cake, but the artificial colors make her throw up. I'll bet this wouldn't. She's going to be so happy!

My mama made this back in the day. It was very good. I'd forgotten about it. Thanks for sharing it.

This sounds good. I like the fact it doesn't call for extra fat or oil.

Ok, I am trusting you with this one. I am about to bake this cake for guests! I never use a mix but I do not have time for a scratch cake this afternoon. Will post an update on this one tonight or tomorrow.

Making it the first time for guests... you're a brave woman!
Do let us know how it came out. I'm wanting to try this, but I keep forgetting to buy tomato soup.

This was fun! I made the cake. I cut it then plated a piece for each guest. They wanted to know what kind it was so I told them it was a "mock" red velvet cake. Then I told them after they all tasted it to identify the mystery ingredient. They were SHOCKED when I told them it was tomato soup. I think I will take the rest of it to Sunday School in the morning. One of the teachers ate a piece of it tonight. Tomorrow I will show my guest, missionary wife going to Toronto, Canada how to make marshmallows for her children. Good night everyone!

That is so funny! I love to trick people, as long as I know nobody's allergic.
I'm going to put tomato soup on my list again and, hopefully, I'll remember to take my list next time. I've left it on the table the past 2 weeks.
