I had leftover spagetti and usually I just put it in a baking dish and make a baked spagetti casserole. But I remembered eating this somewhere and it was good. Since I had cooked a pot of beans and it would be a side dish I figured if it was gross nobody would care. It was delicious. Enjoy The directions say to cook 6 oz of spagetti and to butter a 10" pie dish. But I only had enough leftovers to do a 9" dish. It needs to be buttered. The spagetti needs to be hot. So if you are using leftovers heat it up. Beat 2 eggs in a bowl. Then add 1/3-1/2 cup parmesean cheese. Mix this and 2 T. of soft butter with the warm spagetti. Put it in the pie dish and mash it around to form a crust. Spread 1 cup of cottage cheese over the bottom of the crust. Then add enough thick spagetti sauce to fill it nearly to the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Add 1 cup of Moz. cheese and bake 5 more minutes or until the cheese is melted. Let it stand a few minutes before cutting. I'm wondering if you could do this with rice and put a chicken filling in it. You know I'm goin to try.

I've made this. It's delicious. But we never have leftover pasta any more.

We always have leftover pasta and sauce. I can't seem to pare it down for just 5 people without using portions of a package of pasta. The leftover noodles always get used for buttered noodles, but nobody wants the sauce. This would be ideal for us!

You are right about that. When I make them out of leftover sauce Paul always says its the best. I make calzones out of it too.

I made the spaghetti pie tonight. Everybody loved it and nobody seemed to notice it was leftovers. It tasted a lot like lasagna. Yummy!

Paul said it reminded him of lasagna only better. I thought he'd gripe about the cottage cheese because he doesnt like the ricotta layer in lasagna. Its my favorite part. But he liked this just fine. Suits me. Its easier and a lot cheaper than making lasagna. Glad ya'll liked it. And you are right. It doesnt taste like leftovers

I don't like ricotta cheese in anything. I always substitute cottage cheese. My mother did, too.
