1 c. lard 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 c. molasses 5 c. sifted flour (I sift the flour twice for this recipe) 3 t. baking soda 1/8 t. salt
Cream together lard and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in molasses.
Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually stir into creamed mixture. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour in refrigerator.
Shape dough in 1-14" balls. Place 2" apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350F for 18 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes about 7 dozen
