Tell me again what breeds you have doing this in the middle of winter. Are they bantams?

Bantams, Orloffs and Game crosses. They try to hatch in summer, but the snakes and fire ants tend to wipe them out.

I would love to have chickens. I just can't quite convince Mike.

Gayle, Leghorns don't count unless they go broody. Which they hardly ever do. These gals are scheming to take over the farm, then Milam county, then Texas then AMERICA! LOL

Susan, you can have some. Just tell Mike they are pet chickens.

Tell him they're big fat parakeets.
Kim, a fox got all of the chickens I had that would hatch babies and take good care of them. I have a few Aracaunas that will hatch them, but they're horrible mothers.

Gayle, that's sad. I have to fight most of mine for eggs. If I miss collecting any, somebody decides to turn them into babies. I have hens that will lay, set and hatch in wire cages. Shoot, I'm the only person I know of that has had coturnix quail go broody and hatch a clutch. If it wasn't for snakes and fireants I'd be over run with chicks worse than I already am.

I wish I knew your secrets. I wouldn't mind being overrun with chickens.
I'm hoping the ducks will hatch and care for some babies this spring. I give up on the chickens. I know how to get a pretty good hatch in the incubator, so I ain't worrying about them anymore.
