most domestic critters turned out don't last long = probably because they've lost much natural fear of predators -

The main problem with Pekin ducks is that, by increasing their body size, the ability to fly has been bred out of them, making them easier prey for predators.
I doubt they'd have any trouble finding food, but they wouldn't likely last long.
If you don't want to eat them, how about putting them on craigslist?

I'd give them to him, if you won't eat them or use the eggs. You'll get over it. Just try not to think about their fate.
The only animal it bothered me to have butchered was one hog. I hated the thing, but he had human-looking eyes and he was giving me a look when he was in the trailer that was taking him to the butcher. It was like he knew where he was going. I'd been raising animals to eat for 20 years by that time, but I had to cry for that hog. I still ate him, though.

If it was me, I think I'd give them to the lady with the pond. Sure, a predator will eventually get them, but they'll sure have fun in the meantime.

If you give them to the lady, they'll probably breed, since Pekins come from mallards in the first place. They could end up with some wild offspring!

As Sunshine said, they'd have fun until they met their end. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I've got to get busy and cull a bunch of drakes. Going to do a turkey monday if nothing more pressing comes up. Then I have to figure out how to catch all those drakes. Should have done them months ago.

Ok well I have decided to take the ducks to the lady with the pond. The pond is right by her back porch so maybe they will have a chance anyway.
